Featured Business Friday- Stateline Studios

I had the pleasure of getting to know the guys of Stateline Studios back in September at the Project Pink Charity Gown Sale and Bridal Show in Spartanburg, SC. They were a couple of nice fun guys that showed real excitement over each bride’s story and wedding. They are constantly trying to improve their craft and it shows. So without further ado… meet Stateline Studios! And don’t forget to read all the way through for a sample of their work!

 Q. How long have you been doing videography? How did you become interested in working in the wedding industry? Where did you get your training and/or experience?

Phil Robinson:

I have been in and around the film industry for 12 years.  I interned with the art department of Dawson’s Creek under William G. Davis but is was Alonzo Wilson, the costume designer that really allowed me to take a closer look at the different departments of the industry.  From set to set there was always something that I found I enjoyed with television and movie production.  It is a fast paced environment that when you make the right decisions after a while you can step back and see a beautiful creation and share it with the world.  That creating and sharing is what I love about video production.  It is all about storytelling.  I have been storytelling through independent short film work ever since those starting days.  Stateline Studios was created in sight of telling great stories of love, relationships, and achievements through wedding videos, business commercials and personal videography.

Q. What unique quality do you possess that sets you apart from others in your industry?

Phil Robinson:
Our rates are unbelievably affordable in comparison to our competition. Please enjoy some examples on our website.  We encourage everyone to shop around and compare.  We feel confident that we are providing the best, most affordable wedding videography services.

Q. What is the best piece of advice you can offer to brides/couples for their wedding day?

Phil Robinson:
One should have no worries upon the day of the wedding.  You should always have a smile upon your faces and if anything goes slightly off course or way off the horizon, just remember the love you will always share.   That and it will make for great storytelling!

Q. What inspires you?

Phil Robinson:
I studied art and philosophy at UNC Charlotte.  I will always be an artist.  It is a way of thinking.  It is a way of life.  The artistic eye allows me to quickly find the beautiful angles to shoot and consistently edit with ease in order to produce the best videos.

Q. How do you keep each wedding fresh and exciting?

Phil Robinson:
We always cover a certain set of shots that we know will make for the best wedding video.  I like to think of capturing the wedding day with the thoughts of telling a great story in mind.  Most of the time we have two videographers on location and we both focus on the shots that will compose the majority of the video.  When we feel confident that we have what we need, then I will start the artistic shots.  These shots can be lens work or steadicam work that create a whole new feel for the video.  Lens work gives what I call a warm feeling.  It makes it look more cinematic.  The steadicam shots are great too.  They allow capturing unrehearsed movements while keeping the camera steady, which is perfect for weddings.

Learning more about ya!

Q. Besides videography, what else do you do with your time?

Phil Robinson:
Daniel and I like to come up with the latest and greatest invention of the world.  If we could have developed several of our ideas over the years we would millionaires many times over.  My most memorable invention that I never developed was the pump sneaker.  Yes.  Yes that was me who had the idea first.  I was in the second grade and no resources to take this plan to action.  Yet inevitably a couple years later in 1989 there it was marketed as The Pump!  We currently hold a world game changer of an idea.  Billions of dollars will be made.  So if anyone would like to help develop this idea and can see it through to billions of dollars streaming in, please contact us soon!

Q. Are there any other fun facts that we should know about you that would increase your “awesome factor” even more?

Phil Robinson:
I once was doing videography work in San Diego and got a call to L.A. for a Playboy party . . .  After much deliberation, I was able to attend and shake Hugh Hefner’s hand as we both gave the man’s mutual nod of acceptance.

Wedding Wednesday- 5 Holiday Wedding Ideas

So I’m sitting here in my new office/ craft room, so excited to finally get my stuff organized (though there’s still more to do, as usual lol) and listening to Christmas music. In a few minutes I’ll be making Christmas cards for friends, family, and past clients (who I consider friends too lol) so I thought Christmas music would help set the tone :) (though the big question should be pandora.com or iheartradio.com lol). Soooooo since I’m getting in the Christmas mood I thought a nice post on some cute Holiday wedding ideas would be appropriate. (more…)

Featured Business Friday- The Garden House Bed and Breakfast { Upstate, SC Wedding venue}

I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving! I know our day went really well and we got to see lots of my fiance’s family, unfortunately our weekend wasn’t so great as both parts of his family were evidently carriers of the stomach bug! Gratefully we are both better now and I’m back at it!

I first met Roy and Frances at the Sippin’ in Simpsonville a couple months ago (you know the one that both Elegant Dance Company and City Scape Winery were a part of…). As they were a little bit away from the main area and it was getting dark my future Mother-in-law and I almost didn’t venture down there, but then someone told us about the awesome garden they had in the backyard and Pam just HAD to see it lol. Featured Business Friday- Ryan Nicholas Inn {Greenville, SC Wedding Venue}

My next featured business is the Ryan Nicholas Inn right off I-385. It’s a gorgeous mansion reminiscent of the days of Gone with the Wind filled with elegant crystal chandeliers, deep red wood floors, and elegant furnishings. And I think you’d be proud of me because I did NOT jump on any of the plush beds, despite the temptation lol. (more…)
